Cookie & Storage Policy

This policy provides full, transparent details on how CampusPrep uses browser storage and cookies solely for core authentication and functional user preferences.

Last updated: October 2, 2026

1. Summary: No Non-Essential or Advertising Cookies

Our Privacy-First Storage Policy

CampusPrep does NOT deploy third-party advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral tracking cookies, or tracking pixels (such as Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or data broker cookies).

Because our application only uses strictly necessary technical storage required to sign you in and remember basic interface settings (such as dark mode), we do not subject you to intrusive cookie consent popups or banner trackers.

2. What Technologies We Actually Use

To deliver a modern Single Page Web Application (SPA), your browser utilizes standardized web storage technologies:

A. Browser Local Storage (`localStorage`) — Strictly Necessary

Used to keep your account session securely active and remember local user interface preferences:

  • Authentication Tokens (`sb-*-auth-token`): Stored by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in between page refreshes and browser tabs without asking for your password every time.
  • Theme Preference (`campusprep-theme`): Stores whether you prefer Light, Dark, or System color theme.
  • Hidden Study Rooms (`campusprep_hidden_rooms`): Remembers study rooms you have chosen to hide or dismiss from your personal lobby list.
B. Functional Cookies — Strictly Necessary

We use a single first-party functional cookie:

  • `sidebar_state` (Duration: 7 Days): Remembers whether you collapsed or expanded the left navigation sidebar so that pages render smoothly without visual flicker.
C. Session Storage (`sessionStorage`) — Temporary

Used strictly during single-tab transient interactions, such as remembering your email address during the 2-step verification code flow. All sessionStorage data is automatically purged the moment you close your browser tab.

3. Third-Party Integrations & Customer Support

CampusPrep provides an optional in-app support chat widget. If our administrator configures live customer support (such as Crisp or Tawk.to), that service may place necessary functional cookies strictly to maintain your active conversation with our support team. These cookies are never used for cross-site profiling or third-party marketing.

4. How to Manage or Clear Browser Storage

You have full control over your browser's stored data. You can delete or block storage at any time through your browser's settings:

  • Clearing Local Storage: You can clear your browser's site data for campusprep.online in your browser preferences (Privacy & Security > Clear Site Data). Note that clearing your storage will log you out of your account.
  • Disabling Cookies: You can configure your browser to reject all cookies. Doing so will not break CampusPrep core mock exams, but your sidebar preference may reset upon page refresh.

5. Updates to This Policy

If we ever introduce any optional or non-essential analytics or tracking technologies in the future, we will update this policy and introduce a compliant, granular consent mechanism prior to activating those technologies.
